After testing we decided on a few changes that could be made for our next iteration of the trebuchet.
A couple of changes where made in the structural design in order to reduce build time and material consumption. Material that was not crucial was removed and the layer thickness was increased to its maximum since aesthetic details are not important for a functional part and we are working with forces well below anything that would cause failure of our part.
First: Knowing the way the load distributes along the structure we decided to increase the shell thickness, this will increase the strength since more beads of material will be aligned with the load.
Second: having done tests with a 50% infill part we realized the density could be reduced without jeopardizing the performance, so we reduced the infill density to 20%.
Third: We increased the layer height from 0.2 mm to 0.3mm
By implementing these changes in to the build parameters we where able to reduce the theoretic build time in 40% and material consumption by 30% for this part.
